Depending on where you live, there are a lot of options, and with gas prices what they are, Americans have been exploring those options more lately. Train ridership is up in some parts and bus stops are getting more and more crowded. So what's your routine like? Are you in or near a big city or are you in the small 'burbs?

The daily commute - what a waste of time.  Currently, my commute is 30 minutes each way and I drive it because I live in a state that does not have great public transportation.  It does bother me that Ihave to be a solo driver; however, having that extra hour back in my day has made a world of difference for finding a healthier balance in life.

When I worked downtown, I rode the rapid transit.  It saved no time at all; however, I could make that wasted time productive and did not have the stress of being behind the wheel.

I will say, if I lived in city; such as, NYC or SF, I would take the public transporation.  I do use BART for my transportation needs on monthly SF visit.

another reason why I love MT....hehe makes my commute to work 30 steps or less I'm guessing... depends on where I am in the house. those steps are never wasted t ime I never leave a room emoty handed.... and I'm always picking up things as I walk through. or giving a piggy back ride.

When I worked outside of the home, I had a 45 minute commute and made it alone.  I don't live in an area with public trans.  But i never minded, it was my time in the morning to gather my thoughts, and my time in the evening to unwind before getting back to my hubby.  I enjoyed it. (except when I had to fill the car up with gas)

My commute is generally 20-30 minutes depending on traffic.  I actually like it, I listen to books on audio to pass the time.  Being a busy mom I do not have time to read a book at night like I would like, and it would take away from MT time, so I listen to em.  Great release of time and I stay off my cell phone when I have a good one!

Light rail system is coming to Phnx, however, it is running N & S, not east like I need and it does not come this far north in the valley - maybe someday, as I would be all over it.

I have two part-time jobs. One takes me 15 minutes, and the other 20 minutes by car. Both are really easy to get to with little traffic. I feel really lucky as I hate to drive.

45 minutes with no traffic; one hour with.  I leave at 5:30-6 am so as to miss it.  I would love to take public transportation - before I had Nina I would park and ride and take the bus 3-4 times a week but it adds about 1.5 hours to my day.  Once we had her and I had to pick her up at a certain time, that was no longer possible.  Hopefully the city will have more options available in the future.  For now, both of our cars get great gas mileage - we have one hybrid car and one small 4-cylinder.
