So being pregnant with our second I was wondering what old wives tales are out there that i have not heard.  With my first everyone predicted I was havinga  girl so much that I had it in my head that I was having one.  When I delivered a boy, I was even surprised (pleasantly of course)  So, i've done the necklace test, the online chinease calendars, and they all say girl for this one.  Who else has some methods and were they accurate??

My mom predicted both of mine. -my Aunt did the drain-o test

• 2 tablespoons of CRYSTAL Drano
• Medium glass or glass jar. It is best to just throw the mixing glass away after performing this test.
• Two to Three ounces of urine, preferably the first morning urine. if the color changes it is a boy if not its a girl  If you do this test check out    www.babygenderprediction.com.html 

Even though I knew, I still tested them out.  One would say girl, one would say boy and so...

They are fun, though I wouldn't take them too seriously.

I had a girl, and I could not get enough fruit to eat, especially strawberries. Craving fruit, so they say, is an indication that you're having a girl.

This might sound silly but....both times when I was pregnant with a son I noticed that little girls really annoyed me and with my daughter, little boys annoyed me. It was almost like my body was preparing me for the appropriate gender. Also, I was sick the whole time with my daughter and only the first 4 months with my boys.

First of all - congrats on number 2!!!

I had fun with all of the wives tales when I was pregnant too!  EVERYONE, including myself, knew that it was a girl even before we found out!  I was so impatient to find out what I was having that I did all the wives tales things - and only a few were right.  The Chinese calendar said it was a boy!

I found one that said if you carry low it's a boy, but I was low - so ??
There was one that said if your leg hair grows faster than pre-pregnancy that it's a girl - I didn't really notice a change.
Craving dairy - girl...craving meat - boy
A split red vain on your left eye - girl...on your right - boy.
...
I don't remember any more off the top of my head - I'll write again if I remember any!

 

I have a theory that whatever you crave when you're pregnant is what your baby will love to eat. It's true with both my kids. I craved fruit, ice cream, and any kind of pastry with cherries on it. I ate a Reuben right before I went into labor, and that's a favorite food of theirs, too.

If you look at the hair on the back of your frist chilrds neck ... I think its called the nape of the neck you know the spot I'm talking about... right? well if the hair is strait across that means that it s the oppisite sex of the child you have now... if it is in a lil point or tail that means its pointing to the same sex.

All those tests are fun and everything but don't get your hopes up. I am pregnant with my 2nd and I was hoping for a girl too and i took like three different tests online including the chinese calendar and they all told me a girl too. I was so excited and had my hopes up and everything. When i went to get my sonogram done i was so shocked and kinda devastated when they told me it was a boy. I'm fine with it now but at the time it was kinda heartbreaking.
