Where and when did you learn or at least get a major education about sex and sexual processes? In a class at school? From family?

Well, we had a class at school "family life" i think it was called.  I learned some from classmates I think.  I don't remember my mom sittime me down but she may have.  I do remember she had a set of 4 books that I looked at a lot when i wanted to understand something better.

i learned everything from school and class mates my dad said "abstenance is the best birth control" and that was it. We plan on teaching alena about it from the get go no stork for us...

I learned alot of the birds and bee's from my mom, a big chunk from exploring books at the library, I like to think I was a prepared young person from the extensive research I had done on my own....

I got alot of silly information from my peers for the most part I never believed them... My mom had told me "your friends know nothing, don't believe them"

The whole act though... my mom never went into details...I saw that in the mags that all the boys were hiding and as courios as I was I always made it a point to see those things too... probably not the best place to learn about love and such but the whole act of sex was layed out in those pages.

this was all going on between the ages of 11 to about 15. when  I thought I had grasp it all enough to enjoy it...hehe and thats when jesse came along we talked about the birds and the bees alot too  befor we finally started our own experiments...( I was sixteen) we waited for a long while after being together cause it was important to both of us.

I received my first, very practical or medical education, from my mother at about 10 years old.  Four of our neighbors were all expecting about the same time, so I asked how it happened.

 

My Mother tried to give me THE talk but I wouldnt listen. At the time it was just too embarrassing. She then would shove Christian books under my bedroom door.

 

I grew up midwest IL, my parents believed in, if you don't talk about it, it will not happen.  I never got the talk from either of them.  My learning came from books like Rachel, and or friends.

Books, friends and older siblings.  The book in  4th grade Catholic school that got rotated from the school library was " Are you there God it's me Margret" My Mom was so mad when I brought it Home-  Then when it came time to have the "talk" it was "well you know".  I teased my mom one time about it and she laughed and was so embarassed!

Wow     Honestly, that was such a longgg time ago   LOL  but   guess I remember havin a bit o the talk when I  was in middle scholol . I thought I was PG as a boy had touched my lil boob.... My mas saw a note Id wtitten expressing my fear and read me riot act... She didnt know for weeks I was still pure   but uninformed   , my counselor at school talked to me and friends   after they laughed my naivety

I had the parents that also believed that if you don't discuss it, it won't be a problem.  Sex was never discussed or even said at my house growing up. I had my first 'experience' when I was a senior in high school.  I went to a New Year's Eve party and got very drunk on champange and there was a guy there that I was attracted to for a long time. He and I started making out and I was so drunk that things happened that I never intented to. I can't even remember all the details. But there it was......my first time, I was taken advantage of and didn't enjoy it at all. I plan on talking to my children about sex and all the wonderful things that go along with it.....when they are mature enough to understand.

My mom and I never talked about the birds and the bees. I think I started learning through my fist boyfriend around 14 years old. I had sex education bu at that time almost all teenagers were goofy about it. No one would take it serious. Maybe if I would have talked to someone about it I would have done better choices. Now as a parent I am going too make sure I have the conversations with my kids.

Ironically, I learned about sex and Santa in the same year. (See my Santa thread.) I was both very naive and very wise. I learned about sex from my friends. I learned about Santa from my 5th grade teacher. Seems like it should be the opposite, right?
