Title: QoD - Christmas Trees
Posted: 1 years ago

Fake trees are good in apartments, with pets or small children or for people who don't want to clean up pine needles nad keep a tree watered. Real trees are good for the familiy experience of going to pick one out, of the smell of fresh pine, of the sheer size of the tree and the fact that you won't have to store it afterwards or assemble and disassemble it every year. I'm willing to bet most of us has had a fake tree and a real tree at one point in their lives. Right?

Well, the "experience" of a real tree for me was going to a store and choosing one from 10 million others standing side by side. That was hardly an experience worth the hassle.

I use an artificial tree. I just bought a new one this year. It's 6 1/2 feet, white and pre-lit...and I got it for $30.00!! I also don't have to water it, clean its stupid needles, smell it dying, mess with decorating uneven branches, or have to figure out how to dispose of it when I'm done with it. I simply fold up the branches of my pre-lit and put it into its box for next year.

We always had a real live tree growing up and our first years together as a  couple but Grump has such allergies  that we switched to a fake tree. We finally got a nice big prelit revolving one in Hi, and now thats beginning to wear out a tad  but it will be up as long as its functional. And Christmas  is still fun and still my job to get tree up and decorated lol... thats part  thats something Im sad I didnt share when girls were lil  as ornaments so delicate. By time  they were old enuff  for me to at peace w them being careful enough  they had no interest  anymore and  even as adults still dont. So moms  let them help more than I did so it will always be a fun thing as family .

PS We have a small Charlie Brown fake tree and got girls lil tiny trees for rooms that was all theres to decorate   w own special ornaments  kidproof of course. WinkAnd will do that for boys too

During the first few years of our marriage we had a real tree.  I got 'real' sick and tired of cleaning up the needles and the dogs chewing on the branches. Since the kids have been around, we have a artificial prelit one that works for us. It also saves us the cost of a new one each year. The money we save we go to the neighboring bigger town, go to the drive through of whatever each person wants to eat and then drive around looking at Christmas lights. The kids look forward to it each year. I have been known to put pine scented car fresheners in the tree to give it that pine scent.

We use to do real trees every year.  However, with all the needles falling and watering - it was one more hassel to accomplish, many different tasks!

So we are with a fake tree now, and this year, I would like to add a fake PRELIT tree, all I had to do was slide 3 pcs together and spread them limbs - can I say LOVE IT!

Had to sneak getting it when hubby was in CA after Thanksgiving, but I got one - Wink  SSSHHHH don't tell!

I am a Christmas tree fanantic!  We have a real tree in our family room.  I have a fake tree in our basement familoy room (A PACKER tree).  I have a really small fake tree in the girls' room with all their Babys First Christmas ornaments on it.

We love going as a family out to the tree farm and hunting the perfect tree.  I wouldn't trade my real tree for anything!

I grew up with real trees every single year... but when i moved out on my own... both my parents and me went the artificial route.  now being married we have a artificial prelit tree.  We just bought a new one this year because our last one was no longer lighting!  This one is 6.5 feet tall with 1250 lights one it!  You can land a plane in our living room!  I love it though.  I had two trees until this year because all of the baby stuff is takking all of the extra room up so I have to save the other tree for a few years.

We always had a real tree growing up and untill 2 yrs. ago we went to the tree farm in Wi & froze to death & being 2 weeks away from having a baby it was horribe!! But my boys had fun. Last yr we were here in AZ so I bought a fake prelit tree it was easier but I miss the smell of a real one, so when I was home Depot the other day I looked at them & took a big wiff, I love that smell, but we probably won't do a real one again because everytime I touch one I break out, so hubbie had the fun all the time now he doesn't have to worry. He likes that!!

We used to have real tree but didn't like to get rid of it after. We have had a fake tree for six years now. We did like the smell of a real tree but what we do is buy the spray on use it on our fake tree. For us its faster to have a fake one because we put it away and its not that big its only 6feet. We still have the tradition of puting our tree up every year. Its safer than a real tree.

I grew up with both, but probably had a real tree more often than a fake one. However, on my own, we've had fake trees. We have a dog, two cats and two toddlers, so a fake tree is all we can deal with. I can't possibly consider lugging a real tree home, let alone watering it and cleaning the needles and keeping the animals and kids out of it. I'm gonna spray some pine scent in it I think. It's already up and decorated, but it's missing that smell that I love.

Last year we had a little crappy one that we bought pre-lit from The Christmas Tree Shop. Thing was $60 and looked like crap last year. This year after putting it up, we ran out and bought a more expensive nice one from Martha Stewart. It ran us about $160, but it's gorgeous and the star doesn't fall off the top like the other one. we go real its better for the enviroment as long as you get them off of a farm where they do a crop every year. Artificial trees are bad for the enviroment becasue they are made out of plastic which is made out of oil and will take a while to completely disintegrate

This year we are having an artificial tree.  Some of my family are allergic to the needles of the real trees which is a real bummer but hopefully we will try for a real tree next year.  Happy Holidays everyone! Laughing
