Title: Question of the Day -- Staying Organized
Posted: 1 years ago

There are so many ways to keep track of our daily lives. In addition to all the gadgets you can buy, there are a number of sites where you can track. We have a calendar here on this site to keep track of things. Where do you stay organized? Do you have one main thing that is your life line?

You're assuming I've reached any level of organization in any facet of my life.  Silly you.

Jan's response couldn't be better... LOL

Though just because I have to use it, I could no longer live without it, YES I couldn't live without my MS Outlook!  But, that is for work stuff - the personal life is simple enough I can wing it day-to-day.

I think I will need some serious personal organization rewiring when Rivers is old enough to be in different activities and oh my the thought of managing life with a 2nd (if thats the path for us) that's a hurricane thought.

Organized?  What's that?! LOL!

I do have a system, but it doesn't always work.  I have a calender that sits on my counter, and assuming that everything is written down like it is supposed to be, I have a general idea of what is going on.  Each child has a folder that has their paperwork in it.  Of course, I have to actually put the papers in the right folder.  Made the mistake of leaving a few papers on the counter last week, and accidentally put my daughter's homework with my son's work.  She has been asking me for her homework for 4 days and I kept telling her I already  sent it in.  Whoops!  I guess 5 year olds can be right!

Anyway, most other things around here have their own place.  I tend to like things "cleaned" up.  It gives the impression of organized. Laundry has a system, drinking cups have a system, shoes have a system...the lists goes on.  Luckily the family is very cooperative.  I have trained them well!  :0)

We have a huge calendar in the kitchen and thats where the organization starts....it has what we need to do each day, what day the bills are due and other important facts.  I like to have my kitchen very organized since that is my favorite place ( I love to cook and bake), every pot and pan has its place and there is a place for everything.  My desk doesn't get that special of attention (and its very jealous) but I still know where everything is and what I have and don't have.  As far as laundry is concerned......there is no organization here, I just can't get a handle on that and that is OK with me and the family.

LISTS LISTS LISTS!!!  On any given moment I have two list on our kitchen island.  An ongoing grocery list and a lists of things I have to get at Target, etc and things I need to do that week/day.  Then i have a daily planner where i track appts, lunch dates, play dates, etc.  Then my husband has a cell phone that does everything but cut our grass so he keeps a very detailed calendar of his days and our family appts too.  We check and double check constantly to make sure we have everything down.

I have tried to be organized but can't. I don't know why though. I have tried calendars I have tried assignment sheets. I sometimes think that I cant be organized because the family is too big or maybe because I might be lazy even though I do something everyday. I would love to be organized.

I am totally into organization.  I have everything in its place.  I do a menu plan on Mondays which I find very useful.  I found this great websit ...e with organization charts.  I have a pantry which I keep super organized and my cupboards as well which helps me to know what is there.

Title: Question of the Day -- Staying Organized

Now this is a great question for me.....

I was kinda always organized having been in the military... But the true test was when we had our Twins....life didn't  function very well with out being organized.....Not to the extreme of knowing what we are having for dinner every day for a year....but.....I work on the same schedule.  My kids have calenders in the room they mark off the days....I have stickers stars and things to remind them of dance class, bible study, date nights and so on.  My oldest does his most of the time and he has his things plus a few chores like wash dog and such... My organized chart is in a 3 ring binder that i keep in the kitchen, I have my chore list days I do laundry, clean sheets, bathrooms and such.  I also have a weekly calender on my fridge that shows everyone what mom has planned and keep us all on the same page.  I also carry my palm pilot T3 everywhere I go and it syncs with my computer software.  So organized yes very.......My kids have dressers in their rooms that have a place for everything.  I also have a dresser in each of the kids closets that has the up coming season of clothes for them and any sale clothes with bigger sizes in it.  They only place that is not organized is my side of the closet and i am working on it..... My husbands is sectioned in colors (he doesnt have as much clothes as I) and the "Junk Drawer" in the kitchen...that is not organized.  The other places that are not to my likings are the garage...again on my husbands side...cause mine is very organized.  I am not the neat freak...or crazy about what goes where....but I keep myself busy and the kids stay on task and everything has a place.....

I was just thinking about this the other day....

I would really, truly love to be organized....I'm just not sure I know how to truly get and stay that way.  If anyone would like to come to our house and really get everything organized, that would be swell!!!

As for schedules, we do pretty well.  We have a big calendar in the kitchen that we use for family stuff, and my daily planner in my purse.  I am not always great at writing stuff down though....so mostly it ends up just in my head....so far it's not too bad but I know I need to get better at that before things start to get really crazy.....sigh.....
