Title: BED REST...are you kidding me??
Posted: 2 yearss ago

I haven't posted much on this website because I don't usually EVER sit down. I have a 3 year old and a 1.5 year old and most days we go, go, go. I am 30 weeks pregnant and have been ordered onto bed rest. My husband's family and my family have been SO unbelievably helpful, coming to stay with us until I'm 37 weeks, so I am truly ABLE to rest, but I think I am going to lose my mind. It's only been one week and I've got 7 more to go...AAAHHHH!!!! I miss being outside with my girls and playdates at the park and swimming, etc, etc...

My friends have been great about bringing kiddos here to play, but as the weather gets nicer and nicer, I think I will be stuck inside solo more.

Sorry for whining, I know things could be much worse...the baby could be here now...I could be in dire need with no help whatsoever...I am EXTREMELY grateful for how much everyone has rallied for me and my family...but do any of you have suggestions for me not to lose my mind??

Any ideas would be much appreciated...and reading them would give me something to do for a while :-)

Well my dear I do know what you are going through.....My first born I went on bed rest around 20 weeks and I had him at 25 weeks...he is perfect and fine...and back then 10 years ago...i was glued to the TV...I didn't have any other kids then so thats what I did.  When I was pregnant with our twins I got put on bed rest at 19 weeks and I had them at 30 weeks.  They also are perfect and healthy.....

My oldest was 6 at the time and he could do a lot on his own with guidance from me.  I had to just take all the help I could get and thanked them for everything....They made dinners and froze them for when the babies came...I was served everything.....I was only allowed out of my for 10 minutes....enough to pee and sometimes get a quick shower.  I was hooked up to a monitor that i wore around my belly that was plugged into the phone jack that wemt to the doctors office.   I really wasn't allowed up.  I was reading books so much....I prayed....I started writing list of things i want to do and finish in life....I also started the twins journals for both of them.  I rented many many movies and enjoyed the peace of laying down and taking naps.  I knew soon with 2 more little ones life would be a little crazy after their birth.  Do you like to paint draw write poetry.......oh yeah I otally forgot I had this company close to my house that allowed you to drop off pttery work and they use their kiln.  So I would have hubby pick up ready to paint dishes bowls serving platters...and I made my entire set of dishes....It didn't cost much for the paint and brush and dropping off to get fired wasn't alot of money and nw I have a set of dishes that I made......I also had a few other things that I made for gifts to everyone that helped me during my time of need.  Our church sent dinners over every night and made we had food...it was great.  My mm lived close so she was their a lot too......Good luck enjoy the peace and rmember you are doing this for your beautiful baby that will be here soon.  I would have happily stayed on  bed rest for the whole 9 months if I needed to...because I alittle frustration now and being bored...is so worth a life time with your loving kids.......Good luck

Oh what about scrapbooking......

I also did all my shopping online...baby stuff and kids clothes...

Do you have anyway you coulod get a lounger outside?  Bedrest doesn't always mean bed.  When I was on Bedrest wit Shelby, I was aloowed so much walking/bathroom time.  There were days that I chose to use my shower time and go to my Moms a few blocks away.  She had a nice lounger outside so I could get some fresh air.

Good luck!

You poor dear! I was on bed rest with my daughter for only a week, and although I had thought I would welcome the time off work, I was ready for something, anything(!!!) after two or three days. If you have a hobby like cross-stitch or knitting, that would pass the time. I also gave myself fabulous manicures and pedicures and talked on the phone to friends. Looking through cookbooks is fun, to plan all those new things you want to cook after the baby comes. Good luck!

Thanks for all the ideas and supportive words. I am figuring out stuff to do. I have gone through pics on my computer, caught up on phone calls, played on the floor with my girls with ponies, little people, etc. more than I have in a long time and I feel like I'm getting into a groove. I think this may be a blessing in disguise! Thanks again.

I was kind of joking about looking through cookbooks, but I did do that when I was on bedrest! Best of luck.

I too was on bed rest, my darling wanted to come out at 30 weeks, so I layed down for 6 more weeks until I could not takes no more!  I got up and decided to cook myself some lunch, then....splash, I should not have got up!  13 hours later...my beautiful munchkinhead, a little too small to leave the hospital.

My advise, sit back, relax and get waited on, this may be the last time, make sure your husband comes home with magazines and books for you and spend your time talking to us!  Laying down at home is much nicer than at the hospital.

Good luck, keep us posted!
