How do you know if you found the right one? What a question. I only ask because my son was married and the marriage didn't work out. While they are both great parents to their child, it's sad that the divorce rate is so high in the US. How do you know when you are with the person that you should spend your entire life with? I mean, I am happily married. My husband and I are very happy, but not everyone's marriage works out (i think the divorce rate for marriages is about 50%!) So what are great signs that you are destined for happiness or bad signs that show you should examine your relationship deeper?

One of the reasons I'm confident I found Mr. Right is because of the way we seem to communicate through the tough times. Everyone has bad days and fights -- but I think talking it through and realizing that you can get through it is the key. I think it's ok to be annoyed or mad at your significant other or have them feel that way about you -- but knowing you can talk it though and it will pass. I feel like one of the reasons for the high divorice rate is because people just don't want to try anymore....we live in a society where everything is fast pace and divorice is not looked bad upon so when people get upset they give up and start looking for something "better".

I think it's just when they know what you are thinking. They know what you are trying to say. They might not always like it, but they just seem to get who "you" really are. They understand you completely and want to be with who "you" are. I hope that makes sense!

I don't think there is a right 'one', but a right 'time.' If both parties are ready to put the time and effort into a relationship, it can work. Of course it is helpful if the personalities are compatible and there is some amount of physical attraction, but at the end of the day, it about the willingness to tough out the hard stuff together. Anyone can come for a ride on a sunny day.

As someone who contributed to the divorce rate a few years ago and is now happily married, I can tell you that you honestly will know. When I was getting married the first time, I definitely had my doubts and I chocked it up to pre-wedding jitters. Stupid idea. I should've listened to my heart, because 6 months later, we were living in separate bedrooms in a house we had bought together only a month before. Now, I'm so very happily married to my best friend (met when I was 16) that I just know. It sounds stupid because there is no real answer.
