Star Talk, May 12

by Philip Sedgwick

Star Talk, Week of May 12, 2008

Pretend at the week's start that there is such a thing as a magic wish and that all those people you know who've read The Secret or something similar might be onto something. The lovely and alluring Venus gives you a bit of wish power these days. She sashays over a very special point whose description would defy the process. So, here's the deal. Delete any brain goo that might defy a fantastical outcome and state what you want to the Universe in an inclusive "I can accept this manner." Declaring "I don't want it to rain for my outdoor party" does not exclude hail, wind or snow. Making a statement that includes the weather of life you'd prefer does the trick. Make a generalized plan to get the ball rolling and let the Universe figure out the parts you can't. Your final task: be receptive and when options appear, be impeccably clear as to whether the option in front of you fits your declared, desired outcome or not. No apologies for wanting what you want or doing as you do. Be proud of the way your inner being guides each of your steps when navigating the straits of daily duty.

ARIES (March 21-April 19)

Allow the feeling of optimism to fortify your intrinsic step up and take the first step disposition. With more confidence than normal, let others know what you intend to do. That is all those projects you've taken the time to visualize at the finish line. Any idea that you've not tracked through to completion, hold back until you can smell, taste, touch the outcome. When it's that embedded in your psyche it's likely it won't fall off your radar scope. Your creative flow feels like the emerging lava from a freshly opened fissure on the side of an ancient volcano. It appears to be a new flow of magma, but really it's been brewing inside for a long time. Let these fissures open to reveal all your inner brewing. You might have to agitate those around you into getting on board. Share the fire of enthusiasm. Adopt the motto it's far better to pester than to fester. Keep your declarations simple. Ask and wait. If no response, ask again. If no response, it's your lead.

TAURUS (April 20-May 21)

When others challenged your alleged decadence, there's nothing to defend. If you visit the chiropractor, get a weekly massage and cook a juicy whatever for dinner with fresh herbs, you're only doing the quality of life thing. That is of course, unless you go on and on at coffee time about how your masseuse is also the masseuse of the stars and how you can't believe anyone still eats canned spinach. If you want to share the name of your masseuse, do that. Forget about name dropping, status symbols and such. Rejoice in the fact that you're able to enjoy what you can and keep it to yourself. You know how you dislike it when your Leo friends go on and on about how they have the best sex ever? Mars is in Leo for the next six weeks and he'll inflame your pride, promote matters of ego and agitate your sensitivity to the right invites. It goes back to one thing. If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands, but clap only for your benefit.

GEMINI (May 22-June 21)

The folk song, "Shut up and talk to me," comes to mind. If it comes back to you that you're being loquacious or you just uttered the most detailed explanation on earth, likely you're going on and on and probably repeating yourself. The urge to communicate fills you with the inspiration to articulate every detail and tangential thought while attempting to build a bridge of communication. Keep in mind such bridges rest upon the pillars of listening, interest and attention. You benefit from taking a breath now and again, using that brief intermission from speaking to check for eye glaze or snoring on the part of the benefactors of your dissertation. Keep it short and sweet. Trust if anyone needs more information, they'll rally and ask. When laying out strategies for money, spending, investing and trips, when complete, let it go. When lingering back on down pillows for fun and frivolity, keep things up. Say what you want and apply the lyrics of the song, "Shut up and kiss me."

CANCER (June 22-July 22)

Take the urge for preparedness in your mind, map out plans and when complete, execute the plan. Should you feel the urge to create a storm preparedness kit, do so. Explain the details of your fire escape plan. Document a detailed agenda for communication with the kids about school pick up, text messaging and so on. When all that's done, take some time to nest. A little fussing here and there about the house goes a long way. Clean last week's rain splatter off the window so you can let in more light. Best yet, establish a budget for you to have the special treats you need and deserve. Resist the urge to refer to treat funds as mad money. Ever notice how people respond when you spend mad money? Yeah, there's that. It's money that rewards you for your devotion, conscientiousness and "always ready" attitude. Recognize the call to center stage for kudos that honor your get up and go, loyalty and the ability to be there for whomever, whenever. Accept the honor of yesterday's holiday with dignity. Store the appreciation in your deep emotional reservoirs.

LEO (July 23-August 22)

The energy rolls in unabated. If you're not attentive, you'll be swept along in the high energy exuberance. While not a bad thing, if you oversell, overstate, overreact or overdo, you'll back others away. If others retreat, resist the urge to chase after them. Allowing a little time for the air to cool is your best bet. No doubt you want what you want and now seems to be the time to lay out the perfect foundation. If your schemes are as big as planets suggest, you'll need a team. A crusade of one ends up with the one bearing the banner becoming quickly surrounded. For any project, cause or claim you intend to make in life, apply the big picture scenario. Starting with profit margins, economic gain scenarios and the like make you come off more materialistic and self serving than you are. After all, your big picture is for the good of all, right? The building energy also increases the demands placed upon you by your partner. Show up cheerfully and the rest sorts neatly.

VIRGO (August 23-September 22)

The M & M's, Mercury and Mars put your sensors on high alert. Your inclination assumes there's a lot of behind the scenes stuff occurring that directly impacts your well-being and interests. That would seem to be true. Instead of making assumptions that others might be ganging up or getting ready to pile on, ask questions about what they might be up to and what they're thinking. There's no point in gearing up to offset circumstances that will never come to pass. If you want to be included, offer your two cents. Dime to a dollar says you have some valuable insights to offer. When you submit your best ideas, should you get no response assume more information is needed. The information goes back to getting everyone on the same page. What are you thinking, why are you thinking it and what are you planning to do with it? With that, solid agreement follows and the path forward gracefully unfolds.

LIBRA (September 23-October 22)

The injustices of the world inflame your sensibilities. Any issue that activates your pet cause - fairness - overwhelms your senses, demanding your involvement. While such causes are noble efforts, the question to ask before assuming the responsibility of massive life campaigns, especially those on behalf of loved ones, addresses your energy reserve, day to day activities, social commitments and relationship activities. Before adopting a new course, verify you have enough emotional fuel in your tank. Addressing large causes consumes energy at a rate that may not be accurately gauged. Given your natural consideration to relationship, take an extra step to communicate your aspirations and visions for an idyllic utopia on earth to your mate. You need your mate's support prior to stepping forward with larger, grander plans. When joined on ideals, you and yours push around a lot of progress.

SCORPIO (October 23-November 22)

Think of your mate as a mirror of good. If you direct your passion to your partner, you get what you put out and your mate's reaction to your passion coming back at you. That gives you more to direct to your partner. The cycle goes in ever-expanding circles. The more you give the more you get. The more you reveal, the richer the interaction. It's a yummy, juicy time. Build and store energy with your mate and use all the good fortune that comes with each interlude together. Given that you're the master of creating entendre and innuendo, imagine what happens when you get words on your team. What a time to declare evocative images that the melt the icebergs of skeptical resistance. If there was ever a time to woo those you need in your camp to support your most passionate interests, this is that time. The big picture trend opens the door to fund projects that make sense and ride intense seas of creative vision. Dream beyond the way life appears. Fantasize about destiny. Imagine that your greatest vision for your yet undiscovered talent coming to light.

SAGITTARIUS (November 23-December 22)

It is true that you favor your ideas. You know for a fact that you think along a line of logic that tickles your fancy. You pride yourself on your open-minded consideration and grand sense of justice. With all that in your hip pocket you could be a trifle slow on the draw when it comes to giving ideas headed your way enough consideration. Especially true with your partner, when you take in someone's view of a matter about which you have a clear opinion, remind yourself to listen. The joke amongst astrologers is that Sags often hear from others, "It's interesting how the beginning of your sentences so often end up in the middle of mine." Even though it feels like you're prompting for more information, your comments are seen as steering the conversation and leading others to form the same conclusions as yourself. Allow for a difference of opinion or two. Should you be negotiating relationship needs, try your mate's choice first, then go for yours. That's twice as good, right?

CAPRICORN (December 23-January 20)

Life seems to spread like peanut butter (or your favorite high quality topping) onto bread (or favorite cracker or whatever) with delectable ease. If you were a commercial jetliner, you'd be settling into your initial cruising altitude and easing back on the throttles. In four months, no doubt you'll throttle up again to aspire to even greater heights. For the time being, get used to things moving along without turbulence. There's no resting on laurels, mind you. Yesterday's home run will not be recounted in tomorrow's newspaper after today's game. Still, undeniable accomplishments build a resume of your commitment to quality, integrity and determination to move mountains - symbolic and otherwise. As things ease in terms of work or mundane demands, where do you think the extra attention ought to flow? If you're thinking to that person by your side, you're spot on the game. You might even notice that every time you and yours settle in for your time, even more great ideas come your way. Enjoy the flight.

AQUARIUS (January 21-February 18)

Relationship energy surrounds you. No matter which way you turn or where you look, it's all about those one to one interpersonal connections. The kids demand quality time in which you're not multi-tasking. It would not be advisable to interrupt a parent teacher conference to take the call from the arts committee. Your mate wants your full attention and the feeling of amazing connection whenever you're talking or... you know... talking like big people talk. For the next month and a half, expect to give more than you think you have. You might like it more than you imagined. Think of life in terms of possibility. If you suggest that you and yours can do this or that, your mate likely applies the abundance strategy of the planets in Taurus and comes back with even more to do. Think of it as an assurance of exponential ecstasy instead of needing to be in too many places at once. Keep in mind that you cannot multitask when making memories.

PISCES (February 19-March 20)

The question of now asks how you fancy yourself coming out of situations in which pressure demands the maximum of your skill and prowess. Imagine if you came to bat in the bottom of the ninth with the bases loaded, two out, down one run, what would be your fate? Would go Casey at the Bat and whiff to the dismay and catcalls of fans? Or would you smack that white sphere to the moon? How you fancy yourself predisposes the energy of every personal and professional interaction. See yourself with the outcomes that serve your greatest visions. While attempting to disclose cautions and apply worst case scenario planning, avoid painting pictures with less than fantastical outcomes. Value all your talents, especially the intangibles (creativity, empathy, soulful resolve) and figure a way to place them all on your dossier for the opportunities that don't know how to appeal to your talents. If you show your talents, they can be used.
